ANAMOSA, Iowa -- The 2002 J&P Cycles® Open House is on the move! Instead of its traditional early-June time slot, this year it is set for Saturday June 22. Nearly 2,000 people attended last year's day-long party, one of the largest of its kind in the Midwest. Owners John and Jill Parham host the event as a thank-you to the biking community and local residents who continue to offer phenomenal support to the growing business. The Open House is set for 8 am to 4pm at the company's headquarters, 1 mile north of Anamosa, just off U.S. Highway 151.
Events planned for the day include a motorcycle rodeo, a ride-in-bike show and swap meet, Dyno testing and free refreshments. DJ Karl King, from Chicago, IL will also be on hand playing great rock & roll music throughout the day.
Most products in J&P's giant showroom will be marked down 10% and a portion of the one-acre warehouse will be devoted to drastically reduced clearance items. More than $4000 in door prizes will be given away throughout the day.
The J&P Cycles® Showroom Semi will be on display and visitors can meet representatives of the industry's leading distributors. Custom Chrome®, Chrome Specialties®, Bikers Choice, Drag Specialties®, Kuryakyn Holdings, Memphis Shades, Mid USA®, Midwest Motorcycle Supply®, S&S Cycle , White Brothers and many others will be set up to show off their 2002 products and answer questions.
The motorcycle rodeo is free to all entrants. Brave riders can participate in events such as the barrel race, the slow race and, of course, the famous weenie bite, which requires an equally-brave passenger. The ride-in-bike show will begin at 10am. Registration is $10 and awards will be given away at 3pm.
For the second year in a row J&P will also hold a silent auction. Motorcycle parts and accessories donated by J&P and its distributors will be auctioned to raise money for Camp Courageous of Iowa.
Motel accommodations are available in Anamosa at the Super-8 Motel. Campers can pitch a tent or park their RV at Wapsipinicon State Park, just minutes from J&P, in Anamosa. To get to Anamosa from Interstate 80 at Iowa City, take highway 1 north to highway 151, then go north (right) on 151 about 5 miles.
Also, while visiting Anamosa, be sure to stop downtown and visit the National Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame at 200 E Main Street. June 1st will be the grand opening of their 4000 sq. ft. expansion. The expansion will give them over 12,000 sq feet of display space for over 120 antique motorcycles, memorabilia, clothing, art, books and other motorcycle related items from as far back as 1904.
