Gary Trumblee of Hazelton, Iowa, is the winner of a $27,000 custom V-twin motorcycle given by J&P Cycles® and Easyriders Magazine in the 2000 "Build-A-Bike" sweepstakes. The bright-yellow Softail-style bike was built completely from parts available through the J&P Cycles® catalog. Flaming orange and red accents and a generous amount of chrome make the motorcycle a real attention-getter.

Trumblee entered the contest at the J&P Cycles® store in Anamosa in September. He had stopped to pick up a battery while on his way to a rally with two of his sons. Thousands of other entries were received from entry cards found in Easyriders Magazine, through the J&P Cycles® web site ( ), and at the J&P Cycles® store at the 2000 Sturgis Rally and Races.

A life-long motorcycle owner, Trumblee is usually seen on his 1984 Harley-Davidson® FLH Special Edition ElectraGlide. He also owns a 1986 "883" Sportster®. "We'll make room in the garage," Trumbly said, "but you can bet that I'll have the Build-A-Bike out on the road as soon as I can." Trumblee, accompanied by his wife, Phyllis, son, Tyler, and several friends, received the keys and title to the prize motorcycle at the Anamosa headquarters on Jan. 13.

Speechless at times, he sat on on the bike, cranked up the Rev Tech® 88 cubic inch motor and listened to the deep, throaty exhaust. "I've never won anything like this," he said quietly. "I still can't believe it." The 54-year-old truck driver was on the road a few days before Christmas when his wife called on his cellular phone with a brief message. He wasn't sure what he had won until the next day when he was able to return a call to EasyRiders. "What a Christmas present," he said.

Trumblee offered his sincere thanks to J&P Cycles®, Easyriders and the companies involved in building his beautiful new motorcycle. "Dreams really do come true," he said.
