I have a 2005 Sportster 1200 Custom XL1200C. The cover is difficult to get on. But in this case that is a good thing!! It definitely will not be rattling off. EVER. I would advise that you have some leather handy to use to help clamp it down on the brake rod without scratching it. If you can get this on with your bare hands you are all that is man. Ride On!

This product looks great in the end but don't go thinkin it will just snap on and your done in 2 minutes. On a 1200XL you will need to loosen the exhaust so you can move it over enough to get a pair of pliers around the brake rod. It fits very snug so unless you've got gorilla hand you can't just snap it on. I wrapped a thick piece of leather(at least 3/16) around the brake rod and new chrome cover and used a pair of channel lock pliers to snap the cover in place. It worked very well. Just start at one end and work your way down the rod applying firm pressure but not enough to bend it. Just take your time. In the end it looks great. Don't forget to re-tighten the exhaust. I had heard that covers like this rattled and sometimes fell off. This thing ain't goin nowhere. Fits real tight.
