Nice

No installation guide. Needs washers or something to prevent binding of foot shifter.

A little stiff at first, but loosens up after a while of driving

I purchased the Landmark 10-1/2 inch chrome shift linkage for my 2004 Road King and had problems with it. Due to the angle between the transmission lever and the foot shift lever, I had to use washers to space the linkage out to relieve binding. Even with that, I experienced binding and had difficulty downshifting because the foot lever would not come back up to a middle position. In order to down shift, I first had to use my toe to lift the foot lever between each gear/shift. Examination showed that plastic had been injected to hold the heim joint together, and this was preventing movement of the heim joint so it would not swivel or revolve and introduced a large amount of friction into the linkage. Careful trimming with a pocket knife to remove the excess plastic around the heim joint finally relieved the problem. This happened on a 5000 mile road trip and resulted in 2+ hours of delay to identify and fix the problem.
