Purchased the 6 speed Baker and placed it behind a 107 Shovelhead on my 1975 FLH. It is a wonderful combination and I truly enjoy! The Baker was not a easy install however it is well worth the time. Would suggest it to anybody who wants to upgrade an older bike into a rider.

I didn't purchase this transmission through J&P, but felt led to comment due to the not so favorable review above. I've put about 3k miles on my baker 6/4 (86' fxwg) it has been without flaw. shifts quietly and smooth, I've got the n1 shift drum so neutral is on the bottom which is just awesome at a stop light. completely takes the old aggravation of "finding" neutral out of the equation. I do want also say that hitting 80 to 85 mph is nothing now. This transmission is so smooth that rattle the teeth nervous feeling is gone, that the old rotary top 4 speed gave me at this speed. It's an awesome product and worth the money in my opinion.

This is a great transmission. It just isn't as easy to install as the instructions might lead you to believe. The clutch actuator rod will need to be modified,The part included was too short for my application. I'm running a Rivera ProClutch, and had to make my own. Baker has adderessed this now, and does sell the parts separetly. I have not found any Exhaust pipes that fit using the kicker supplied. You'll have more options on pipes with a hydraulic clutch then with a mechanical one. the Mechanical actuator arm is what was in the way on most of the pipes I have tried. If you think you might ever want to run an electronic speedo, put the sensor in before you install the transmission. The swingarm support gets in the way,and you can not get the sensor in without pulling the transmission out. You also have to go to forward controls, the transmission is longer on the right side,so the stock brake controls won't fit.None of this detracts from the fact that this is a good transmission.but it is not just a drop in replacement is all.
