With all the new laws coming out about motorcycles that are too loud, I really like the idea of these pipes. But I had a few problems with my pair. Right after you have them installed they're great. Fun to play with. If you're leaving early from your apartment complex it's great to have in quiet mode. Then, after you're out on the freeway you can just flip it over to loud mode and have at it. I have no complaints of the sound when in loud mode. They sounded great. Unfortunately, there were 2 main problems I had with these pipes. First, I got caught out in a rainstorm when I was going cross country last year. I noticed after these got wet, the ends of the controller cables started to rust almost immediately. Eventually, after using them for just over a year the electric motor stripped a bolt and they wouldn't move between modes anymore. The second thing I didn't like about them, is there is an electric controller. You have to tap into the cables underneath the seat to get it working. It's a little bit of an intrusive install. I eventually ended up getting a pair of V&H after this experiment. Like I said, I really liked the option of having a stealth mode. But I wish it was controlled by a hand or foot lever. Something that didn't require you tap into the electric system. If you are out riding, you usually only need the quite mode for a small part of the ride. And always want to switch over to the loud mode for more performance. Like I said, I found it best for sneaking out of my apartment complex at 5AM without ticking off all my neighbors that are sleeping in.
I installed the Peace Maker exhaust system in an afternoon, taking my time to get it right. The clamp to hold the drive moter cylinder to the frame was too large for the frame. I installed a rubber gasket between the frame and clamps to secure it. Sound with full baffle on is great - same as stock pipes. Sound with open pipes was a little disappointing. I thought it would be louder. MPG at 48. Overall rating-satified with my purchase.
Great product, I own a Roadstar Midnight Silverado and these slip-ons fitsjust perfectly, with the baffles on they are quieter than stock but with them off they are pretty loud. They are worth the price for the option of two pipes in one. I recommend them.
