Mounting position is a little low to be completely effective.
Installed these on my V Star 650 Custom. They seem to do their job, but I'm not crazy about the looks of them. I installed them ABOVE the nut on the mirror mount bolt because they were down too low to actually deflect the wind the way the instructions say to mount them. But that was a simple adjustment. FYI - I have pullback risers on my bike and I think without some type of handlebar riser installed these hand guards could hit the tank if the bars are turned hard to either side.
