It works! I tested it! Installed engine guard on Wednesday, dropped the bike on Thursday. The engine guard bent, but the bike was undamaged except for a scratch on the front fender. I got some road rash on my arm, but no broken bones! A friend was able to put the guard in a press, straighten it, and we put it back on the bike. Not pretty anymore, but USEFUL! I'll get a new one...same kind...as money allows.

The Barron Engine Guard Is easily mounted to the 05 Yamaha 650 VSTAR CLASSIC. Yamaha does not offer anything but a smaller product that would perhaps protect the engine from damage but do nothing for the riders legs if the bike would fall over while sitting still. Yamahas' product appears more cosmetic than anything and I like most of their aftermarket Star Line. The Barron Engine guard is functional and practical and attractive addition to the motorcycle. I bought these guards for my 2001 V Star looking for a tougher, bigger guard than the Yamaha ones. Yamaha only makes one size guard for my bike, and it's really small. I came to J&P Cycles as a great place for products and picked these, and I absolutely love them. They stick out farther than my floor boards, and they are very thick and heavy, solid products. Highly recommended.
