Josh Grant #33 The Pride of Riverside

While most racers start at a young age, California native Josh Grant didn’t start until 1998 when he was 13. But the late start didn’t stop Grant’s professional racing career. JG’s amateur days ended in 2004 when he joined the Amsoil Honda satellite team.

Along the way, JG earned a tenth-place overall in the Motocross Lites series including three-podium finishes in his rookie year. The following year, JG finished a solid eighth-overall in the East Coast Supercross Lites division and seventh in the outdoors.

Grant returned in 2006 to repeat the previous year’s success by bringing home third in both the indoors and outdoors series as well as first-place finish at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas in the Lites class.

While still part of the Amsoil Honda team in 2007, Grant’s third year as a pro included three-podium finishes in Supercross for seventh in the East Coast series and a third-overall in Motocross Lites. In his final year in the Lites division, JG was fifth in the East Coast Supercross and struggled in the outdoor series and for a disappointing ninth overall.

JG’s move to the premier-class in 2009 was an impressive one. Not only did he bring home a fourth-place spot in Supercross and a sixth-overall in Motocross, he did it all while learning his new Yamaha machine. In 2010 things quickly went downhill when Grant crashed while preparing for the upcoming Supercross season. He injured his shoulder, which had to be operated on just days before the season opener at Angel stadium. He missed nearly all of the season attempting to heal for the outdoor season.

Back for business, Grant came on strong in the first MX race of the season at Hangtown, taking second place in his first moto. The 24-year-old stayed consistent for the majority of the season, taking top-10 results and occasionally making it to the podium. He earned seventh in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship despite not riding in the final three races due to another shoulder injury.

For 2011 Grant will be with Red Bull Honda along with new teammate, Trey Canard.
