Triumph Motorcycles introduced an updated 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS today, the changes ranging from performance to aesthetics.

On the performance side, the latest 765cc Triple (Triumph bumped the Street Triple from 675cc to 765cc in 2017) puts out a claimed 121 hp @ 11,750 rpm and 58 lb-ft. torque @ 9,350 rpm. The engine was developed by Triumph’s Moto2 engine team who put an emphasis on boosting midrange and both torque and horsepower reportedly have increased by 9% for 2020. Throttle response is also said to be improved thanks to a 7% reduction in rotational inertia allowing for faster revs. The DOHC Triple benefits from a freer-flowing exhaust with a twin-catalyst system designed to meet Euro 5 standards. A new exhaust cam will also help midrange gains. The 2020 Street Triple RS features five riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport, Track and Rider-Programmable) giving riders the option to adjust power output to various riding conditions and personal preference. Triumph is quick to point out that the 2020 Street Triple RS has a dry weight of 366 pounds so it should be able to dodge and weave like Money Mayweather in a title fight.

The 2020 Street Triple RS is equipped with Triumph’s Shift Assist so rowing up and down the gearbox while maintaining throttle position should be quick and smooth. Triumph says the six-speed transmission has been refined with short gear ratios in first and second tailored to get it up to speed in two blinks of an eye. Thanks to higher precision machining, Triumph removed the anti-backlash gears of the prior Street Triple RS which trimmed mass and helped throttle response.

On the styling side, the front end sees new LED headlights designed to use less power and last longer and daytime running lights for increased daytime visibility. The restyled twin LED headlights integrate better into the Street Triple RS’s flyscreen which is more angular than before. The aggressive lines established by the front extends to the all-new bodywork including the side panels, tail section, seat cowl, and belly pan.  The exhaust also got an edgy styling revamp, topped off with a carbon fiber end cap.

The 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS has a full complement of electronics, from the aforementioned riding modes to adjustable ABS and traction control. Riders can toggle through settings on the motorcycle’s TFT screen which is four-position adjustable. The latest Street Triple RS comes with the new My Triumph connectivity system which when teamed with an accessory Bluetooth module gives riders the ability to operate a GoPro camera, receive turn-by-turn navigation, stream music, and to take and receive phone calls.
