Are you looking for protection for your hands when riding, but don’t want sweaty palms in the summer? If so, try out Alpinestars Spartan Gloves.

While gloves may not be the first thing you think about when it comes to motorcycle riding gear, in most crashes your hands are one of the first things to hit the ground. Which is where the advanced knuckle protection with hard polymers and the EVA foam panels on the back of the fingers of the Spartan Gloves come into play. These features not only bolster protection, they’re designed properly so the gloves still allow unrestricted movement.

I live in Kentucky (Yes, we wear shoes here. Gloves too!) and we have some hot and very humid summer months. I am the type of rider that feels more comfortable riding in full gear and that can be challenging in the summer months. With no AC to crank up, heat is an enemy of any motorcycle rider, so we need lighter gear designed to be protective and comfortable. I have the Alpinestars Apex Drystar gloves for colder riding days and love them but really needed something for the hot summer days, so I bought A-Stars Spartan Gloves as well.

Lightweight, flexible, and breathable, the Alpinestars Spartan Gloves are a great set of summertime riding gloves.

My first experience breaking in these gloves was an awesome 400+mile trip. The mornings started out in the mid-40s and days ended up in the mid-80s. These mesh gloves are well-ventilated and move a lot of air so my hands were a little cold for the first part of the morning, but on the flip-side they never got hot throughout the trip. The gloves are very comfortable and the Clarino palm reinforcements, plus Clarino thumb panel, boost protection and provide great grip. They do run a little small so I would recommend buying one size larger than what you normally wear because I generally wear a large but went with an XL. The one feature I wish they had is touchscreen compatibility, and if accessing your cell phone while wearing gloves is a must for you, I’d suggest going with the Alpinestars Atom Gloves. The Spartan Gloves come in a variety of colors in both men’s and women’s styles, and did I mention they’re a great deal at $39.95?
