An excellent product & a reputable company. I installed the shield over my rear exhaust pipe on my FXS, shotgun style system, to shield the oil tank close by. The exhaust pipes themselves were wrapped in Thermo-tec's pipe wrap. Along with their Heat Sleeves over the chrome oil lines, that I modified by slitting lengthwise & coating with hi-temp silicone to seal the fibers, the oil tank now operates at a 'High-Normal' temp. instead of broiling hot. I also run an oil cooler with a thermal valve, which is what all HD's should've had in the 1st place-as in; 'from the factory'. The bike likes the changes, the plugs run clean. Mileage, even with a Vance & Hines Fuelpak, is good. The newer engines may run hot, but, in the end, 'Heat Destroys' & will cost you. Keep 'er cool-( As you can!)- your bike will last longer!

Skinny rivet heads holding the mounting brackets pull through both layers of shield fabric.Inevitable casual boot contact quickly abrades both layers of fabric.Bad product.

This is just what I needed to curb the heat coming from my new Cobra exhaust. The heat was starting to melt my side cover and this heat shield works great. I used stainless steel cinch straps (zip ties) instead of the hose clamps that come with it...looks much better.
