Handlebars Measuring Guide

To identify your handlebar needs, we recommend measuring your current handlebar's dimensions as a baseline.

To most closely match the measuring system used on our site, we recommend the following method:

Push a table against a wall. Prop up the handlebars in the corner where the table meets the wall, then rotate the bars forward until the front of the bars touch the wall. In this case, rise is the distance from the table to the highest point on the bars, with pullback measured from the wall to the farthest point back.

Width: Measure between the two outside points of the handlebars.
Center Width: Measure between the two inside points of the handlebars.
Rise: Measure from the base of the handlebars to their highest point.
Pullback: Measure from the front of the bars to the furthest point back.

Additional Considerations:

  • Handlebars for Springer Softails are different than bars for other bikes. Learn More
  • We offer bars in two groupings by year of fitment — pre–1982 and later models. The differences are the result of a change of configuration in the switch housings. Learn More

I will start off with the PROS: Normally I would give these bars a perfect rating because they may be the most comfortable bars I have ever had. They are nice and heavy, very high quality with which have a very nice chrome finish. They have an amazing curvy bend bend to them that creates a very natural posture. CONS: Since these bars are so thick, they were the hardest bars that I have ever had to internally wire. It took me a few hours to finally squeeze 1 inch diameter of wire through the 1/2" sized hole. This is not necessarily a bad thing however, this just means that the bars are very thick and sturdy which prevents the bars from shaking and vibrating like a lot of cheap bars do. So just be prepared to spend some extra time with installation on these bars. And now my reason for only giving these bars a 4 star rating: The JP Cycles website listed these as "in stock" so I called to verify that they were in stock, and I was told that they were and would be shipped within 24 hours of placing the order. Satisfied with that answer, I placed my order for these bars and a few other items right then over the phone because I wanted the bars ASAP. These bars took 3 WEEKS just to ship from their warehouse... I tried calling numerous times regarding the status and waited on hold for over an hour each time before I hang up the phone. Once I finally got ahold of someone the fifth or sixth time I called, I was told that they closed one of their main warehouses and are working on getting orders caught up. I have had great experiences with JP Cycles in the past but every time I have ordered something this year, it takes longer and longer to ship each time. It sounds like they need to get their stuff figured out or hire more people unless they want to continue losing business. I know I am not the only one who has complained about this problem.
