The last ME 33 Laser had 12k miles on it when I put the newer LaserTec tire on my 1982 BMW R100. I looked at the tire since it was the beginning of the season, and it appeared to only have 1-2k miles left on it. When I checked my maintenance records, the current LaserTec only had about 7k miles on it. This is really substandard mileage, in my opinion. I used to get that out of the original Conti Twin front tire back in the 80's. The dilemma is what other tire would I use, since it is still 3.25 x 19 bias tire? At least the LaserTec performed well, so I decided to get one more before wrote off Metzeler. There is one other issue with the LaserTec. It is really stiff, rendering it very difficult to get off the rim. In fact, I have decided to put a full length tire iron in the frame under the tank for traveling. The short tire irons are almost totally ineffective for removing the tire. It could be that this is a plus in one respect, since I have never had a flat on my ME 33 or LaserTec. I think I could probably drive over a bed of nails with no ill effects. Even though the mileage was somewhat low, the price was reasonably affordable, though it does require an inner tube, which adds to the cost.
