The final link in the control chain between the rider and the road is the rubber of the tire. I sometimes cut corners on equipment like what audio speaker to buy, but I never compromise on tires. I've been riding Metzeler Lasertec as my front tire for going on 30 years and easily have over 100,000 miles on them. (Not the same tire - of course.) The Lasertec excels under conditions that matter most, slippery wet roads, loose gravel, surface oil, and even ice. (Riding on ice is not pretty!) What I love most about the Lasertec is its reluctance to track. On roads with water channels cut into the road (direction of travel) the Lasertec rides on top and won't track the grooves. This is also true for steel grate bridges where a bike's front tire can be violently jerked from side-to-side as it passes over each steel grid. The Lasertec rides the grid keeping control in the rider's hands. In the end, the Lasertec provides a stable and sure grip on the road allowing the driver to "feel the road" while maintaining control in almost any condition. I might also add that I ride under sport-touring conditions.

I'm liking these tires over the ME880 that I was running
