Purchased this kit for my ’99 Road King. It had nearly 60k trouble free miles, but I wanted to freshen it up and get rid of the chain drive cam system, especially the tensioner shoes. The gear drive allowed me to eliminate +400 small mechanical parts of the chain drive system that I feel are greatest weaknesses of motor. Gear drive cams require attention to tolerances (pinion run-out, cam lobe to engine case and backlash), but upgrade will require less maintenance and less chances of failure, and an improvement in HP! Be aware there may be some needed case grinding required, no intake manifold gaskets and also the manual states my old intake manifold needs to be replaced with an S&S model. These are not big issues, but since I am not a master mechanic and don’t have a plethora of extra parts or specialty tools lying around, it was a little frustrating. At first I was very intimidated and was worried “what have I gotten myself into”, but patience, the included S&S instruction sheets, YouTube videos and a Hayes Repair Manual all helped make this upgrade possible for me. I was glad I did myself, not because it saved me a couple grand, but now I know more about my bike. I even made a couple YouTube videos (95” hot set up on 99 road king) during the process, Cheers-hope this post helps others contemplating the project.

I bought the kit and all items were delivered as advertized. Instructions were complete and accurate. You need a good mechanical knowledge and a large arbor or hydraulic press for the cams. Everthing worked great and took about 24 hours of labor to install everthing.(I also purchased a super G carb kit and a Vance and Hines exhaust system.)Just remember to order the top rocker box gaskets if you use your exsisting rocker boxes. This all went on my 2005 FLHTC. Still breaking the engine in and so far I love the results. Great kit and good service from J&P Cycles.

Got the kit in on Friday, had my Heritage running with it installed Saturday night!!! Also put the Super E carb with Thunder Jet on. This kit is all that it claims to be!!!! Install it and hold on!!!!
