These switches are a weak design, but there are a couple of things you can do to help their problems. Putting a dab of epoxy at the base of the spades will keep them from being pushed into the switch. Also, turning the switch into the housing just enough for the lever to contact and cut off the light will keep the switch plunger from jamming. If you allow the lever to bottom out the plunger against the threaded shank, the plunger will jam.

Kllcormack

replaced with two of these now and both have gotten stuck leaving the brake light on

vonhelmet66

Ordered two. On one of them the switch button pushed in but would not come out, junk. Other one was the same but after a bit of work it came out, and the electrical connector tabs seem very flimsy. Much lower quality than the 10 year old one it replaced.

johnny68

Works as it should.

panhead007

Works great

gopher84

Don't know why but I only get 2 years service out of these. Original lasted 20. I bought a bag of 5 ten years ago for what 2 costs today. Hopefully these will have a longer life but they look just like the last 5. Same switch everywhere so not really JP's fault.

rwalker950

Threads were messed up so I bought a 1/4"-32 die and it fitted, connecting the wires one of the connections became loose. I will buy another one to see if it is of better quality.

Pussbump

It is a shame HD used such a poor design. No fault of JP the design is so poor. Probably have to replace it every time I have to go thru inspection. I guess it is as good as it gets for this switch.
