2024 J&P Cycles holiday gift guide

Nov 01, 2024

When it comes to gift-giving, everyone could use a little help. Maybe you don't ride yourself but you're buying for someone who does and you could use some ideas. Even experienced riders have a hard time keeping up with the new products on the market and choosing something for their riding buddies, because we all know how particular riders are about how their motorcycles look and feel.

That's where our annual gift guide comes in. Here are some new and interesting products to consider when you start doing your holiday shopping.

Arlen Ness Air Trax Grips For Harley

Ever since the introduction of rubber-mounted and counterbalanced Big Twins, excess vibration hasn't been much of an issue for Harley-Davidson riders. But the large-diameter handgrips that come stock on Harleys are another matter. Riders with smaller hands sometimes have a hard time getting good traction on them, and the relatively smooth surface that's a feature of some stock grips doesn't help. For Harley riders who want better grip, as well as better grips, Arlen Ness Air Trax Grips are just what they're looking for.

Air Trax grips are made with an aggressive yet comfortable rubber design pattern that provides superior hand traction with a reduction in felt vibration. The grips' end caps are CNC-machined from billet aluminum and come engraved with the Arlen Ness logo. Priced from $58.46 to $71.96, they're model-specific and are sold in pairs.

Vance & Hines 4" Eliminator Slip-On Mufflers For Harley Touring bikes

A big bike needs big sound, and Vance & Hines Eliminator slip-ons give Harley tourers a deep, aggressive exhaust note that announces your presence with authority. The massive four-inch round mufflers don't just sound great, they look great, too, with CNC-machined billet end caps and several finish options to give your bike the look you want.

Priced between $549.99 and $599.99, the USA-made slip-ons are sold in pairs. For use on bikes with fuel-injected engines, Vance & Hines recommends pairing the Eliminators with a Vance & Hines Fuelpak (sold separately). For maximum performance, Vance & Hines header pipes and air cleaners are also recommended. For the best in style and performance, don't leave home without Vance & Hines Eliminator Slip-on mufflers.

Battery Tender 5 Amp Power Tender 12V Battery Charger

For many riders, the holiday season also coincides with a long break in the riding season. Even worse, it sometimes means the death of batteries left in hibernating bikes without being hooked up to a charger. Keep your battery alive through the winter with the 5-Amp Power Tender Battery charger from Battery Tender.

The 5-Amp Power Tender is perfect for all lead-acid, flooded, or sealed maintenance-free batteries and it also has a separate setting for charging lithium batteries. It can even handle vintage six-volt systems.

It features four-step, fully automatic charging that automatically switches to a float/maintenance setting after the battery is fully charged. It's protected from damage due to reverse polarity and short circuits, and comes with a built-in 72-hour timer, a six-foot AC power cord, a 4.5-foot DC output cord, and a 1.5-foot DC accessory cord. The Power Tender sells for $128.66 and comes with a five-year manufacturer's warranty.

Figurati Designs Magnetic Oil Dipstick For Harley Milwaukee-Eight Touring models

Modern manufacturing techniques have all but eliminated the danger of bits of metal and other debris running rampant in an engine during break-in and doing damage as the oil circulates. But as the miles pile on so does the wear, and fine metal particles can collect in the oil and be flushed out only with a complete oil change. Guard against that damage between oil changes on 2017-24 Harley Touring models with Figurati's Magnetic Oil Dipstick.

The Magnetic Dipstick by Figurati Designs is made of high-quality 316L stainless steel to enhance the looks of your Harley bagger. But there's more going on here than good looks, because the magnet collects and traps metal particles that contaminate the oil and can spread through the engine. The accumulated debris is cleaned off with every oil change — or more often, if you want — resulting in longer engine life. The Magnetic Dipstick sells for $159.95, cheap compared to the cost of an engine teardown.
