Motorcycle Turn Signals FAQ's

Is it hard to upgrade my motorcycle turn signals?
Swapping the turn signals themselves is very easy—it's usually just one bolt. The wiring can be the tricky part. If your new signals are LEDs and your old ones were "incandescent" bulbs, the new ones will "hyperflash" (blink really fast). You'll need to install a "load resistor" or an "LED flasher relay" to fix this.

Why are my new LED turn signals "hyperflashing"?
They're flashing fast because LEDs use almost no electricity. Your bike's old flasher relay is "expecting" to see the "load" of a 20-watt bulb. When it sees the tiny 2-watt load of an LED, it thinks the bulb is burned out, so it flashes fast to warn you. A "load resistor" tricks it by adding that load back in.

What are "sequential" turn signals?
Sequential turn signals are a very cool-looking upgrade. Instead of the whole signal just "blinking," the LEDs light up in a "sequence" or "flow" from the inside to the outside, just like the turn signals on many modern cars.

Can I get rid of my big, ugly turn signals?
Yes! This is a very common custom mod. You can replace those big, stock "lollipops" with tiny, "bullet" or "micro" LED turn signals that are super bright but almost invisible when they're off. This is a great way to "clean up" the look of your bike's fenders.
