Fuel inection? Who needs it! You're currently browsing the best selection of aftermarket motorcycle carburetors on the web. Whether your bike is a hot rod or is just an everyday commuter, J&P Cycles has you covered with everything required to get your engine breathing right. As a key component of your motorcycle, carburetors work by mixing the right amount of air and fuel into an internal combustion engine so that it burns efficiently and provides the perfect amount of power for the bike. This process all starts with the pilot jet that supplies the fuel mixture entering the engine and aftermarket carbs can improve throttle response by optimizing air flow. What this means for your bike is a crisp, reactive and reliable response every time you hit your throttle.

It takes small and specialized parts to make the magic of carburetion happen, but you can count on brands like Bendix, Mikuni, S&S Cycle, V-Twin Manufacturing and Zenith Fuel Systems to help get the job done. Don't forget: you can always call our free tech support line to speak with motorcycle specialists if you have install or compatibility questions. Motorcycle Carburetor FAQ's

How do I know if my motorcycle carburetor is bad?
A "bad" carb usually just means it's dirty or out of tune. The classic signs are: the bike is hard to start, it needs the choke to run, it idles roughly, or it sputters and hesitates when you give it gas. This is often caused by tiny "jets" inside the carb getting clogged with old fuel.

What's the difference between a CV carb and a mechanical slide?
A CV (Constant Velocity) carb, which is stock on many bikes, uses engine vacuum to lift the slide. It's smooth and efficient. A mechanical (or "flatslide") carb, like a Mikuni, is directly connected to your throttle. When you twist it, the slide lifts now. This gives you much quicker, more "snappy" throttle response.

What is "re-jetting" a carburetor?
"Re-jetting" means swapping out the small, brass "jets" inside your carburetor for ones with different-sized holes. You must do this after you add a high-flow air filter or a new exhaust. Those mods let more air in, so you need to "re-jet" to a larger jet to let more fuel in to match.

How often should I clean my motorcycle's carburetor?
You should clean your carb whenever it starts acting up. However, the best "fix" is prevention. If you're going to store your bike for more than a month or two, turn off the gas, drain the float bowl, and run the bike until it's out of fuel. This stops the gas from evaporating and clogging your jets.
