Indian launches limited-edition line with special paint, loaded with features

Indian Motorcycles is introducing what it calls its Signature Series, four limited-edition models for 2026 — two baggers and two touring models — that are loaded with features, lavished with high-level paint treatments, and arriving with MSRPs north of $40,000 to go with their exclusivity.

There's more than one reason this might sound familiar to you, even though this is a new development. For one thing, on Monday, in his article about new limited-edition models from Triumph and Royal Enfield, Dustin commented that it seems like every motorcycle manufacturer these days is rushing to issue exclusive models with small production runs at higher prices. Also, as I reported less than two months ago, Indian launched a line of performance parts called ARO, for American Racing Operations, and if ARO sounds similar in concept to Harley-Davidson's Screamin' Eagle line of performance products, then you'd be excused for thinking that the Indian Signature Series looks a lot like Harley-Davidson's CVO (Custom Vehicle Operations) line of upscale, limited-edition models.

Maybe all this is the inevitable result of having a former Harley-Davidson executive in charge as CEO of Indian under its new ownership. Is it a surprise that a lot of what worked for Harley-Davidson over recent decades is being copied at Indian?

But that's enough talk of business strategy and the like. Let's look at some shiny new motorcycles.

Much of what's underneath the fancy paint is shared by all four Signature Series models, including the liquid-cooled, eight-valve, V-twin PowerPlus 112 engine which comes with three ride modes (Rain, Standard, and Sport) and cruise control. There's lean-angle-sensitive anti-lock brakes with Brembo hardware and an inverted fork up front. All four feature a seven-inch TFT display with navigation and Apple CarPlay capabilities, keyless ignition, remote locking luggage, tire-pressure monitoring, LED lighting, and a power adjustable windscreen. The array of safety features goes beyond ABS, too, with blind spot warning and rear collision warning. Upgraded sound systems are included.

With all those things in common, a potential customer's first steps in narrowing down the choice is deciding between a bagger or a touring model and between Indian's fork-mounted fairing or frame-mounted fairing. And looks, of course, because each model gets its own upscale paint treatment.

Indian Challenger Signature Series

The Challenger is one of the two bagger models and has the frame-mounted fairing, which is a major reason it's the basis for the King of the Baggers race bikes. Both the baggers get a blacked-out look and a similar paint treatment. The Challenger gets Red Alert and Machined Silver accents to complement its Abyss Metallic black base.

The PowerBand audio system is upgraded to 400 watts from the unit on the regular Challenger.

Indian Chieftain Signature Series

The Chieftain is the Signature Series bagger that carries Indian's fork-mounted fairing. Though similar to the Challenger, it has Venom Green and Cypher Green accents on top of the Abyss Metallic black base. MSRP on both of the Signature Series bagger models is $40,999.

Indian Pursuit Signature Series

Where the baggers are blacked-out, the two touring models get a few splashes of chrome and Frontier Pearl white paint with Revere Red and Vigilant Blue accents that Indian says are in honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, not to mention the 125th anniversary of the founding of Indian. The touring models also get a few extra comfort features. Both the rider's and passenger's seats are heated and can be controlled separately. Grips are also heated and the passenger floorboards are adjustable. The addition of the top box increases storage to 36.2 gallons and, like the saddlebags, it can be locked remotely.

The Pursuit is the model with the frame-mounted fairing. Riders who prefer the more traditional fork-mounted fairing can get nearly the same thing in a Roadmaster.

Indian Roadmaster Signature Series

The Roadmaster sports the same colors as the Pursuit but in its own unique scheme. Both touring models also get yet another boost in the audio system's power, to 600 watts. The MSRP on both is $46,749.

Indian is shipping Signature Series models to dealers now so they should be available for you to ogle in person shortly.
