Video: UK man sentenced for trying to run over motorcyclist in road rage

Mar 27, 2023

A 69-year-old man in Wales in the U.K. was sentenced to eight months in prison last week for a harrowing road rage incident in which he chased a motorcyclist down residential streets and eventually rammed him, knocking him off his bike. And the court had the ultimate evidence of the crime: the driver's own dashcam video.

We've seen plenty of road rage incidents over the years and cases of people's own videos getting them into trouble, but this is a particularly disturbing combination of both.

According to reports in British media, Graham Robinson was convicted of dangerous driving and obstructing the police. According to the reports, the motorcyclist, Liam Guest, clipped Robinson's car, enraging the driver. Robinson took off after Guest, who clearly soon realized he was running for his life, and took evasive maneuvers. As you can see in the video, Guest, who was riding a dual-sport, slips past a bus to try to get away from the car, but the driver follows him at speeds up to 50 mph on residential and business streets. The rider then cuts down an unpaved alley, but at the end, the car smacks him from behind before crashing into vegetation.

The rider suffered minor injuries.

In addition to the eight months in prison, Robinson's driver's license was suspended for three years and four months, according to British media reports.

And what do you do if you're the rider caught up in a road rage situation? We actually had a discussion about that with our readers almost eight years ago now. I think the conclusions and advice I wrote then are just as valid now.
