RevZilla is going racing on both the strip and the track this year, teaming up with the successful Vance & Hines Motorsports team, which will carry two number-one plates into the 2024 season.
RevZilla has signed a two-year deal to be the title sponsor for all of Vance & Hines Motorsports' racing efforts. That means you'll see the familiar ZLA orange on the RevZilla/Mission/Vance & Hines Suzuki of defending NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion Gaige Herrera in the 2024 Mission Foods Drag Racing Championship. Herrera is joined on the team this year by veteran drag racer Richard Gadson. RevZilla colors will also be flying on the RevZilla/Mission/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Road Glide of MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers defending champion Hayden Gillim. He is joined by former Junior Cup and Twins Cup champion Rocco Landers, who will make his King of the Baggers debut this year, riding a motorcycle far different from the ones he's ridden to such success so far in his young career.
That puts some successful and popular racers under the RevZilla banner, starting with Herrera, who is coming off a great season in which he established a 50-4 win-loss record on his way to the title, the 14th NHRA championship for the Vance & Hines team. “The rest of the class will be gunning for me, and it definitely won’t be easy," Herrera said of his title defense. "But, with that being said, I also know I’ve got a team behind me that never stops working and it’s a team that has proven time and time again to be the best in the championship."
Gadson has won multiple titles in other series but this will be his first season in NHRA Pro Stock. "There were moments when reaching my goal of racing an NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle seemed impossible," Gadson said. He'll be a 37-year-old rookie, but a rookie in name only, bringing his own experience to what is already a winning team.
On the roadracing side, though it was a close fight, Gillim won the King of the Baggers title last year by finishing the season strong with eight straight podium appearances. “We had to come from behind to catch up, but we got the results when we needed them at the end," said Gillim. "I can’t wait to get started and Daytona can’t get here soon enough.”
Though he's just 19 years old, Landers has three MotoAmerica championships on his resume and already ranks in the top 10 on the all-time AMA roadracing wins list across all classes, but moving from lightweight Twins Cup and Supersport race bikes to the baggers will require him to climb a new learning curve. "I got the chance to test the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson this off-season and I felt comfortable on it straight away," Landers said. "It will be a lot of fun racing in that class, and I can learn a lot from Hayden and the team. Let’s go racing.”
The RevZilla title sponsorship of the Vance & Hines teams is a first for both entities.
“In all of our years of racing, we’ve never had one company serve as a title sponsor for all of our racing activities,” said Vance & Hines Motorsports owner Terry Vance. “RevZilla has stepped up to be the major sponsor of our programs in both NHRA and MotoAmerica and we know they will be the perfect title-sponsorship partner. We’re excited about the new relationship, and we can’t wait to go racing with RevZilla onboard for the next two years.”
“We wanted to expose the RevZilla brand to a whole new audience and Vance & Hines Motorsports has presented the perfect platform to do that,” said Steve Bontempo, president of RevZilla and chief marketing officer of parent company Comoto. “As title sponsor of Vance & Hines Motorsports, RevZilla will be introduced to fans of NHRA and MotoAmerica in the best possible light. We’re looking forward to an exciting 2024 and 2025 at drag strips and racetracks across the country.”
