Your motorcycle gas tank is the crowning focal point of your motorcycle. Install a custom fuel tank worthy of this position when you shop top fuel tank models at J&P Cycles. There are plenty of reasons to install a new one on your trusted ride. Maybe your tank is dented or leaky, or you simply want to add a little extra style to your motorcycle. Other times, you need to up the fuel capacity of your tank or simply have the best tank possible to build around for a custom chopper.

All these are great reasons to upgrade, and we stock the brands to get the job done including Arlen Ness, Biker's Choice, Drag Specialties, HogWorkz, J&P Cycles, Paughco, and V-Twin Manufacturing. Choose from popular styles, including narrow mustang tank, high tunnel, low tunnel, bobbed, stretched, prism, coffin, dished and much more. Don't forget you'll need
Motorcycle Gas Tank Sealers to finish your install, and don't skimp on accessories like high style gas gap parts with Motorcycle Gas Tank Accessories.

Motorcycle Gas Tank FAQ's

Why would I replace my motorcycle's gas tank?
There are two main reasons: damage or style. If you drop your bike and get a big, nasty dent in the tank, replacing it is often easier than repairing it. But the more fun reason is for style! Swapping a big "bob" tank for a small "peanut" or "chopper" tank can completely change the entire look of your motorcycle.

Can I put a bigger gas tank on my bike?
Yes, this is a very popular upgrade, especially for bikes like the Harley Sportster that come with a small tank. Many companies make larger-capacity "touring" tanks that bolt right up to your stock frame but let you ride 50-100 miles further before you have to stop for gas.

Is it hard to swap a motorcycle gas tank?
It's a straightforward job, but you have to be careful. You'll need to drain all the fuel first! After that, it's just a matter of disconnecting the fuel line, any sensor wires, and unbolting it from the frame. The trickiest part is making sure you don't spill gas or scratch the paint.

Do I need to seal my new gas tank?
If you buy a new, unpainted "raw steel" tank, you must seal the inside of it before you add gas. This is done with a special gas tank sealer kit. This coating prevents the inside of the tank from rusting, which would flake off and clog your carburetor or fuel injectors.
