A good motorcycle helmet is a high-tech work of art — just like your bike. Sure, this riding essential protects your cranium, but it should also match your style and personality. J&P Cycles is your destination for those cool and custom motorcycle helmets that'll keep you safe, comfortable and looking great on the road. While impact protection comes first, helmets can also make you more visible to other motorists, cut down on wind noise, keep the bugs out of your teeth and add a great style point to match your bike's paint job. Men’s, women’s, full face, retro or anything else you might like — J&P has got you covered. All you need to do is get some measurements to make sure you score the right size, but we can help with that, too.

Motorcycle Helmets: Shop J&P Cycles for Best Selection

It is unquestionably the most important item you’ll bring on a ride. We’re not here to tell you which style you should rock, but we are going to suggest you wear one. So, shop smart and ride safe with motorcycle helmets that’ll suit your style, match your kit and keep you safe. There are several factors to pay attention to as you shop custom motorcycle helmets. First they are available in full face, retro half shell/open face and more modern modular configurations. While a full face helmet provides the best protection, a half shell provides the feeling of freedom that some riders prefer. Or if you can't decide, modular offers the best of both worlds. Motorcycle helmets with Bluetooth compatibility is another request we hear often. The fun and functionality of these devices makes them plenty popular and you’ll find many offerings from leading brands. Helmet safety ratings are another key factor to note as you shop. At the very least, your helmet must be U.S. DOT (Department of Transportation) approved although you'll find higher safety ratings in ECE and Snell-rated helmets.

From Custom to Cool at J&P

Nail the size, style, color, features and plenty more options when you shop J&P Cycles! On our website, you can filter by safety rating or shop by the best helmet brands like Bell, HJC, ICON, Shoei and more. With so much to choose from, we’ve just got to ask... what are you waiting for? Motorcycle Helmet FAQ's

How do I find the right size motorcycle helmet?
The right helmet should be snug—snugger than you think. To find your size, wrap a tailor's tape measure around your head, just above your eyebrows. Match that measurement (in inches or cm) to the brand's size chart. A new helmet should be tight enough that the "cheek pads" make you look like a chipmunk. They'll break in!

What's the difference between DOT, ECE, and Snell helmet ratings?
These are all safety standards. DOT (Department of Transportation) is the legal minimum for a helmet to be sold in the USA. ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) is the European standard, which many riders prefer as it involves more rigorous testing. Snell is a third-party, high-performance standard that's popular for track and racing.

How often should I replace my motorcycle helmet?
You should replace your helmet every 3 to 5 years, even if it looks fine. Over time, the EPS foam on the inside (the part that actually saves your life) breaks down from sweat, heat, and age, and it loses its ability to absorb an impact. And, of course, you must replace your helmet after any crash or drop.

What are the different types of motorcycle helmets?
There are five main types: Full-Face (offers the most protection), Modular (a full-face where the chin bar flips up), Open-Face (or 3/4, no chin bar), Half-Helmet (just the top, "beanie" style), and ADV/Dual-Sport (looks like a dirt bike helmet but with a face shield).

What's a "Pinlock" system?
A Pinlock is the single best way to stop your helmet's visor from fogging up. It's a separate, flexible "second-pane" insert that creates a sealed air gap, just like a double-pane window in your house. If you ride in the cold or rain, it's an absolute must-have.
