I had owned the bike in stock form for a really long time and simultaneously owned hot rod Dynas and Sportsters. I wanted to build a bike that suited me and I pulled from all the things I liked from my other bikes. I really dig restomod style cars so with that in mind I went to work building a hot rod in rat rod clothes.
I shudder to think… I would estimate $15,000ish. But a lot of that is driven by the engine and transmission cost.
All total it took about 3-4 months to build, roughly 120 working hours or so.
Since the frame and sheet metal are stock FXR the only fab work are small things like the shock reservoir mounts, converting the wheels to sealed bearings and small brackets and pieces for the electrical system.
